A sick dog is given a final ride around town and miraculously recovers.

When Joey Maxwell and his wife first saw Maverick at a death shelter, he was simply skin and bones. Mav joined their family and lived with them for six happy years after they adopted him.

As a result, when the dog was given a lymphoma diagnosis a few years ago, Maxwell did everything in his power to help his canine friend battle the disease, and the first round of therapy was a success. But the illness returned two months ago, rendering him immobile.

The owner consequently made the decision to take the dog for a wagon ride. Making Mav’s final days as enjoyable as possible at first turned out to have a substantial impact on the dog’s health.

According to Maxwell, who spoke to CBS News, “When we take him out, he barks at everyone who goes by until they pat him because he believes the whole world is there to love on him.”

And he could be right. It’s amazing how much love and support there is for Maxwell and his dog. For instance, Maxwell got a 50% wagon discount after telling his story, and both he and the Lowe’s cashier started to cry. Maverick is recognized by residents of Maxwell’s little community, who come up to him to offer their support.

Such coasters are a great favorite of Mav’s. Perhaps as a result, the dog gets stronger every day.

We’re in a great place because we understand how much Mav means to so many other people right now, and we know he has reciprocated in every way.

Maverick can now sit by himself and is becoming stronger every day, so he is obviously feeling the love!
