
At least 12 people were killed and nearly 50 injured in a collision between two buses in western Senegal on March 3.
The accident occurred near the Dinguiraye area in the town of Kaolack. APS news agency reported that 10 victims died at the scene, while two others died on the road and later in hospital.
Witnesses said the driver of the larger bus fell asleep at the wheel. A total of 48 people were injured in the accident, 10 of whom are in serious condition, according to local fire services.
According to official statistics, Senegal had more than 600 deaths in traffic accidents in 2016. In Senegal, many vehicles are old and dilapidated, while drivers lack skills.
