Pregnant Dog And Her Pup Found Living In Small Boxes Just Before The Big Storm In California

Animal cruelty has reached an all-time high in the last few years.

Due to neglectful owners, many four-legged furballs end up living on the streets with no roof over their heads whatsoever. And, if that’s not enough, most of these dogs face harsh weather and storms in their quests for a safehaven.

One such case recently unfolded in Southern California where a pregnant mom and her pup were abandoned on the streets. Left alone after their owner drove away, they were at the mercy of their circumstances with no food.

They lived on a sidewalk in tiny boxes with a big storm on the horizon.

They Only Had Each Other

A group of neighbors spotted these two dogs roaming the street after an abandonment, and they decided to act immediately.

Instead of leaving them without any shelter, they constructed a temporary home out of cardboard boxes, an old chair, and a couple of cozy blankets to make the dogs feel comfortable.

“The kind neighbors made boxes for beds and a chair with blankets and beds. Sweet little babies each had their little boxes. And they each slept in their own,” Suzette Hall says in a Facebook post.

However, they knew this wasn’t enough!

Given the big storm coming and the fact that the mom dog was pregnant, the residents knew these sweet furballs needed a safer place to be. So, they informed Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy in Irvine, California, and her colleague, Mary, about the whole situation.

“Yesterday these two babies were dumped with nothing but each other. They would go up and down the street looking for the ones they once trusted. The neighbors couldn’t believe it,” Hall continues.

Hall was heartbroken upon arriving at the scene. Just looking at the dogs and their custom “beds” was tough, let alone the fact that they had been abandoned.

Luckily, the duo didn’t have to wait long for the rescue!

She and her friend, Mary, picked up the pup while the mom was still too afraid for any interaction.

That’s why Suzette set up a humane trap filled with delicious food nearby. Within minutes, the mom was secured, too!

“I reunited them together in the trap and we drove away from their little box beds,” Suzette concludes.

Finally Safe

Both dogs were safely transported to a vet clinic for a checkup and further care. After receiving a clean bill of health, the mama and her pup will be ready for a foster or a forever home.

Thanks to Suzette, Mary, and the rest of the rescue crew, the pups were saved right before the inevitable, and now they are about to embark on a brand-new life journey.

Hopefully, both dogs will soon be rewarded with a nice, cozy life and a family who will never abandon them.

They deserve nothing less than that!
