A woman stormed out of her future in-laws’ Christmas celebration after seeing the gift her fiancé gave her, after she had gone to great lengths to buy him a PlayStation 5. She was horrified by his present.
A woman’s boyfriend earned significantly more than she did, as he was a pediatrician and she was a hairdresser. However, she didn’t use that as an excuse for not giving him a nice Christmas present.
She saved for months to try and give her fiancé what he had been wanting for months but had never dared to buy: a PlayStation 5. It was quite a challenge to find the gift, since everyone wanted the same console.

The groom made no effort
In the end, the woman found one through a relative who added a markup to the retail price. “You have no idea how much it cost me,” she admitted .
The woman shared her story on Reddit after what happened that Christmas. She wanted to know what people thought of her situation, especially after all the effort she had put into finding the perfect gift for her boyfriend.

That year, her boyfriend had opened a private practice with his colleagues, and her financial situation is better than before.
Thanks to his stable income, he gave his parents his old apartment. He also gave his brother his old Mercedes Benz, which came with expensive customizations.

A couple of days before Christmas, he was clearly busy with his patients. He never bothered to ask his girlfriend what she wanted for Christmas, so she brought it up.
She began to talk about valuable things she would need the following year. He listened to her quite attentively, and the woman got the impression that he understood what she was saying.

His gift was unparalleled.
On Christmas Day, the man’s family celebrated with the couple. Everyone began exchanging gifts and watched as the groom presented his gift to his fiancée.
To her surprise, it was a package of toothpicks. Her little sister started laughing, recording the whole thing.
The woman blinked. She was stunned and hadn’t expected it at all. To make matters worse, the man let her know that her reaction was making him uncomfortable.

The man kept asking if his fiancée would accept the gift or if he should give it to his niece. “She insisted she take it and thanked me for the PlayStation 5 I gave her,” the woman said .
Still reeling from what had just happened, the woman left the living room and calmed down in the bathroom. She could still hear her family’s giggles, and all she wanted to do was cry.
Her fiancé knocked on the door and said it had all been a joke. He blamed it all on his little sister, who had suggested the prank.

At that moment, the woman snapped. She started yelling at her boyfriend, and his family gathered to watch them fight.
She called her boyfriend “childish” and “insensitive,” and he said she was exaggerating. Eventually, she’d had enough and decided to spend the rest of Christmas at her mother’s house.
Her future mother-in-law called her and blamed her for ruining everyone’s mood. Meanwhile, the woman’s mother defended her, saying everyone was wrong to participate in such a cruel joke.

The next day, her fiancé appeared at her door with what was supposed to be her real gift. He apologized and repeated that it had all been her sister’s idea.
Even so, the woman didn’t like the situation. Her fiancé’s sister was 23 and had nothing better to do, while he was the eldest of four siblings.

She asked people on Reddit if she was wrong about how she had reacted. They made sure to tell her that it wasn’t her fault.
